Whole Home Design in Tucson
A whole-home design resolves an older central-Tucson house on paper — so a midtown ranch or Sam Hughes bungalow reads as one considered home rather than a series of dated rooms.
Designed for Tucson
Local Context Shapes Every Decision.
We plan proportion, materials, and flow across the entire floor plan at once, reconciling the home’s period character with the way you live now. Deciding the kitchen, baths, and living spaces together means one material language carries throughout — and the plan can be built in phases, without any early work having to be undone later.

What’s Included
A Complete, Considered Scope
01
Space planning
Older central-Tucson homes were often built as a series of separate rooms. We plan the whole floor at once, looking at where walls, openings, and hallways can change so the house flows the way you live now while keeping the character that makes it worth updating.
02
3D design + drawings
Photoreal 3D studies let you walk through the house before anything is built, from a midtown ranch’s front door to its back patio. You can see how new openings, ceilings, and lighting feel in the existing structure, and make changes while they are easy.
03
Material + finish selection
Materials are chosen as one palette that respects the home’s period, from flooring and cabinetry to tile, plaster, and hardware, and reviewed in your own light. New work can echo original details so old and new rooms feel like they belong together.
04
Documentation + budget
The package includes dimensioned plans, elevations, lighting and electrical layouts, and finish schedules for every room, informed by the existing conditions we document. An itemized budget range is attached, and the plan can be built at once or in phases.
Designing in Tucson
How a Tucson whole-home design comes together.
In midtown ranches, Sam Hughes bungalows, and mid-century homes across the city, a whole-home design has to balance character with modern life. Our process documents what exists first, then settles layout and flow, then materials and details, so the plan is realistic before anything is built.
Discovery + measure.
We walk the house with you, talk through what you love and what doesn’t work, and measure every room in the scope carefully. Past alterations, older systems, and original details are noted so the plan starts from real conditions.
Plan + 3D.
We develop whole-floor layout options and refine the strongest in plan, elevation, and photoreal 3D. You see how opened rooms and new connections will feel, and we adjust until the house works as one.
Selections + documents.
One palette of flooring, cabinetry, tile, and fixtures is finalized and reviewed in your light. Drawings, finish schedules, and an itemized budget are completed, ready to build at once or in phases.

Tucson Questions
Whole-home design in Tucson.
Answers to the questions Tucson homeowners ask most. If yours isn’t listed, bring it to your free consultation.
Do you work throughout Tucson?
Yes — Tucson and the surrounding Tucson metro are core to our practice, and we know the local trades, suppliers, and permitting.
How much does whole home design cost in Tucson?
It depends on scope and finish level. We give every Tucson homeowner an honest, itemized budget range as part of the design phase — no vague ballparks.
Are you licensed and insured?
Fully licensed and insured in Arizona, and experienced with local inspection and HOA requirements common in Tucson.
How do we get started?
Book a free consultation. We’ll walk your Tucson home, talk through your goals, and outline a clear path and budget range.
Can you open up an older floor plan?
Often, yes. We evaluate structure and utilities during design, so beams, supports, and relocations are planned before any wall comes down.
How do you keep an older home’s character?
We document original details and design new work to respect them, so updated rooms feel like part of the house rather than additions to it.
Do you design for mid-century homes?
Yes. Clean lines, period-appropriate materials, and careful proportions help new work fit mid-century architecture.
What if the house has had past remodels?
We note earlier alterations during the measure and plan around them, so the new design resolves inconsistencies instead of adding to them.
Can the design plan for older systems?
Yes. Where electrical, plumbing, or ventilation will likely need updating, we identify it during design so it is part of the plan and budget.
How long does a whole-home design take in Tucson?
It depends on the size of the house, existing conditions, and how quickly selections are made. We set a realistic schedule at the start.
Can we build the plan over several years?
Yes. The whole house is designed once, then built in phases, so early work never has to be undone when later rooms are updated.
Can you match original trim and flooring?
Often, yes. Profiles, casings, and flooring can be matched or echoed so new work blends with the original house.
Can the design work with plaster or block walls?
Yes. We account for the wall construction in the plan, so new openings, cabinetry, and finishes fit cleanly.
Can you build the design too?
Yes. We can carry the design through construction, so the crew builds from the same drawings the design was developed on.
Can a small house feel larger?
Often, yes. Better openings, consistent flooring, built-in storage, and layered lighting can make modest square footage feel more generous, without adding on.
