Built-In Cabinets

Media walls, libraries, window seats, and bar niches — built-ins make a room feel finished and intentional. We design and build them to sit flush with your walls and carry the home’s material language.

The Vision

Every inch planned. Every detail built for the room.

We develop the proportions, interiors, materials, hardware, finish, and installation together so the cabinetry works beautifully and belongs to the architecture.

What’s Included

A Complete, Considered Scope

01

Living + media walls

Media walls are planned around the screen, speakers, and components you actually own. We design ventilation, cable routing, and access panels into the cabinetry, so equipment stays cool and serviceable while the wall reads as clean, finished millwork.

02

Libraries + display

Shelving is proportioned to what it will hold, from paperbacks to large art books and collected pieces. Integrated lighting, adjustable shelves, and closed storage below keep the display calm, and finishes are matched to the room’s trim and flooring.

03

Window seats + benches

Window seats, entry benches, and banquettes are sized for real sitting comfort and built with drawers or lift-up lids underneath. Awkward alcoves and underused walls become places people use every day.

04

Seamless install

Every built-in is scribed to your walls, floors, and ceilings, so it sits tight against the house instead of floating in front of it. Filler panels, trim, and finish work are completed on site to make the cabinetry look original to the home.

The Built-In Process

How a built-in comes together.

A built-in has to fit the room, the architecture, and the way you use the space. Our process settles all three before fabrication begins, so the finished piece arrives ready to install and looks like it was always part of the house.

Measure + plan.

We measure the wall, note outlets, vents, and windows, and talk through what the built-in needs to hold, hide, or display. Layout options are sketched to the room’s proportions.

Design + detail.

Elevations and 3D views show door styles, shelving, lighting, and hardware. Wood species, stain or paint, and interior fittings are selected and approved before fabrication.

Build + install.

Cabinetry is fabricated to the approved drawings, then installed, scribed, and finished on site. Lighting and hardware are adjusted during a final walkthrough.

Built-In Questions

Built-ins, answered.

Answers for homeowners planning media walls, libraries, and window seats. If yours isn’t listed, bring it to your free consultation.

What kinds of built-ins do you make?

Media and living-room walls, libraries and display shelving, window seats and benches, mudroom lockers, and bar or niche cabinetry — all designed to belong to the architecture.

Can built-ins hide electronics and wiring?

Yes. We plan for components, ventilation, and cable routing inside the cabinetry so the technology disappears into the design.

Will a built-in look original to the house?

That’s the intent. We scribe built-ins to the walls and match trim, proportion, and finish so they read as part of the home, not furniture set against it.

Do built-ins add usable storage or just look good?

Both — a well-planned window seat or media wall reclaims space that was doing nothing and gives it a real job.

Can you add built-ins without a full remodel?

Yes. Built-ins are often a focused project on their own, and we install them with minimal disruption to the surrounding rooms.

How long does a built-in project take?

Most of the time goes into design and fabrication. We give you a schedule after measuring, and on-site installation is usually the shortest part of the project.

Can built-ins match our existing cabinetry?

Yes. We match door styles, wood species, stain or paint colors, and hardware so new built-ins sit comfortably beside existing kitchen or bath cabinetry.

Can you add lighting to shelves and cabinets?

Yes. Shelf lighting, cabinet interiors, and accent lighting are planned in design, with wiring routed through the cabinetry and switches placed where you expect them.

Can you build around a fireplace?

Yes. We design built-ins that flank or surround a fireplace, with clearances planned to code and finishes chosen to work with the surround and mantel.

Should we choose paint or stained wood?

Both work well. Paint suits trim-matched built-ins and brighter rooms, while stained wood brings warmth and shows the grain. We help you compare samples before choosing.

Do you build mudroom lockers and drop zones?

Yes. Lockers, benches, hooks, and closed storage near the garage or entry give coats, bags, and shoes a place to land so they don’t spread through the house.

Will built-ins work in an older home?

Yes. Older walls are rarely perfectly straight, which is why we scribe every piece on site. The finished built-in fits tight even where walls and floors are uneven.
