Whole Home Design
When rooms should speak to one another, design has to zoom out. We carry proportion, material, and tone across the entire floor plan, so the house reads as one considered place rather than a series of separate projects.
The Vision
Every decision made visible before the work begins.
You receive a coordinated design package with layouts, elevations, visualization, selections, and the documentation needed to price and build confidently.

What’s Included
A Complete, Considered Scope
01
Space planning
We plan the whole floor at once, mapping how people move from the entry to the kitchen, living areas, and bedrooms. Walls, openings, and storage are placed so each room supports the others, and circulation feels natural instead of pieced together over time.
02
3D design + drawings
Photoreal 3D studies let you move through the house before anything is built, looking from one room into the next. Ceiling heights, sightlines, and lighting are tested together, so changes happen on screen while they are still easy and inexpensive.
03
Material + finish selection
Flooring, cabinetry, stone, tile, paint, and hardware are chosen as one palette and reviewed in your own light. Materials repeat and shift with intention from room to room, so the house feels connected without every space looking the same.
04
Documentation + budget
The final package includes dimensioned plans, elevations, lighting and electrical layouts, and finish schedules for every room, coordinated so each trade builds from the same information. An itemized budget range is attached, and the plan can be built at once or in phases.
The Design Process
How a whole-home design comes together.
A whole-home project involves more decisions than any single room, and many of them depend on each other. Our process settles the big moves first, like layout, openings, and flow, then works down to materials and details, so every choice builds on the last and nothing is left to be figured out on the job site.
Discovery + measure.
We walk the house with you, talk through how you live, and note what works and what doesn’t. Then we measure every room involved, documenting walls, ceilings, windows, plumbing, and existing conditions that will shape the plan.
Plan + 3D.
We develop layout options for the whole floor and refine the strongest one in plan, elevation, and photoreal 3D. You review how the rooms connect, and we adjust openings, storage, and lighting until the house works as one.
Selections + documents.
One palette of flooring, cabinetry, stone, tile, and fixtures is finalized and reviewed in your light. Drawings, finish schedules, and an itemized budget are completed, ready to price and build.

Selected Work
Rooms that speak to one another.
The Reiter home in the Catalina Foothills was designed with living spaces layered for light. Natural-cherry cabinetry, a quartz-topped island, and a copper-finish hood over a teal glass tile wall anchor the kitchen at the center of the home.

Whole Home Questions
Whole-home design, answered.
Answers for homeowners planning several rooms at once. If yours isn’t listed, bring it to your free consultation.
How is whole-home design different from doing one room at a time?
We plan proportion, materials, and flow across the entire floor plan at once, so decisions in the kitchen, baths, and living spaces reinforce each other instead of competing.
Do we have to build everything at once?
No. A whole-home design can be built in phases — we sequence it so early work doesn’t have to be undone later, and the plan holds together even if it takes time.
Can you work with our home’s existing architecture?
Yes. We design to the character of the house — desert contemporary, mid-century, or otherwise — rather than imposing a look that fights it.
What do we receive at the end?
A coordinated set of plans, elevations, 3D, and finish schedules for every room, plus an itemized budget — ready to build with confidence.
Is a whole-home design worth it if we’re on a budget?
Often especially then. A plan keeps you from spending twice, and it lets you invest in the rooms that matter most now while leaving a clear path for the rest.
How long does a whole-home design take?
It depends on how many rooms are involved and how quickly selections are made. We give you a realistic design schedule at the start, with clear milestones for layout, 3D review, and final documents.
Which rooms should be part of the plan?
Most whole-home designs include the kitchen, baths, living areas, and primary suite. We help you decide what belongs in the scope now, and we consider the rooms you are keeping so new work fits around them.
Can your team build the design as well?
Yes. We can carry the design through construction, so the people building your home work from the same drawings the design was developed on.
How do rooms stay consistent without looking identical?
Core materials and proportions repeat throughout the house, while color, texture, and scale shift with each room’s purpose. The result feels connected, not repetitive.
Can you plan for how our needs will change?
Yes. Flexible rooms, accessible layouts, and storage for growing families or working from home can be built into the plan from the start.
Do we have to remove walls to connect the house?
Not always. Wider openings, better sightlines, and consistent lighting often connect rooms well. When walls do come out, we evaluate structure and utilities during design.
How is lighting handled across the house?
Each room gets a lighting plan, coordinated so fixtures, color temperature, and controls feel consistent from one space to the next.
Can we keep existing furniture or finishes?
Often, yes. We measure the pieces you plan to keep and design around them, and flooring or cabinetry in good condition can stay in the plan.
How do you choose materials for Tucson’s light?
Samples are reviewed in your own home, at different times of day, so colors and finishes are chosen for the strong desert light they will actually live in.
What should we bring to the first meeting?
Photos you like, a list of what isn’t working, any existing plans for the house, and a sense of your priorities. We’ll handle the measuring and the rest.
