Meet the Team

The people
behind each
project.

Design, client guidance, project coordination, and studio operations come together through a team rooted in Tucson.

Living Space Designs

A small studio with a personal approach.

Living Space Designs was created to help homeowners remodel their homes around the way they actually live. Since then, the studio has guided hundreds of clients through the design and remodeling of kitchens, baths, and interior spaces throughout Tucson. The team is intentionally small, so you work with people who know your project well — from the first consultation to the finished room — with design, sales, and office support together under one roof.

Interior design team in Tucson: Helen Burch, Principal and Managing Partner

Helen Burch

Principal and Managing Partner

Helen grew up in Chicago, where weekends spent painting houses with her father introduced her to the colors, textures, trim, and architecture inside different homes. That early exposure became a career. She holds degrees in both sociology and interior design, along with national certifications from NARI and NCIDQ — a combination that gives her a clear understanding of design aesthetics and of how people actually live. For two decades she has specialized in residential new construction, remodels, and design consultations in Southern California and Arizona. Helen believes open dialogue and trust are the foundation of a good client–designer relationship, and she focuses on homes that are highly functional and true to each client’s lifestyle and taste.

Jeff Stuchen

Sales Manager

Jeff Stuchen was born in Los Angeles and moved to Nogales, Arizona, in 1972. Early in his career, he spent over 12 years as a buyer for his family’s business, where he honed his skills in sourcing and procurement. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Jeff then opened a retail store in Tucson, Arizona, featuring unique furniture and accessories from Mexico. Following this venture, he transitioned to a new career path as the general manager and the main salesperson of a company specializing in countertop fabrication, cabinetry, and kitchen and bathroom remodeling, where he served for 17 years. Jeff’s diverse experience — from managing inventory to overseeing complex remodeling projects — has made him a well-rounded and knowledgeable leader in home improvement and design.

Interior design team in Tucson: Amy Vargas, Lead Designer

Amy Vargas

Lead Designer

Amy was born and raised in Florida and began her design career in St. Louis in 2003. Drawn by the beauty of the Sonoran Desert, she moved to Tucson in 2007 and has been designing kitchens and baths in Southern Arizona ever since. Amy is organized and detail-oriented, but her greatest strength is listening. She pays close attention to each homeowner’s goals and routines, then offers creative options and techniques that fit them. For Amy, a great kitchen is about more than materials — it has to be both functional and refined. She can present several distinct ideas so clients can compare directions before settling on a design.

Interior design team in Tucson: Carolyn Roberson, Office Manager

Carolyn Roberson

Office Manager

Carolyn was born in Louisiana and grew up traveling the country with her family. A short stay in Arizona as a child left her with a lasting love for the desert, and after years in Colorado raising her two children, she returned to the Southwest. Carolyn has worked as a bookkeeper across multiple industries and spent more than 20 years working alongside an interior designer in Colorado. Today she is the studio’s Office Manager and Bookkeeper, keeping schedules, records, and accounts organized so the design team can stay focused on clients and their projects.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in interior design, she began her career in Tucson in 2003. Over the past two decades, she has gained experience in residential design, including new construction and kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects. She believes that a well-designed home should be a place where life feels comfortable, beautiful, and truly your own. Interior design team in Tucson: Dominick

Dominick

Dominick has worked in the trades since high school, building hands-on experience and a strong appreciation for quality workmanship. He enjoys working on cars, fixing and building just about anything, and taking on projects that challenge him to learn something new. Outside of work, he spends as much time outdoors as he can — especially hiking, camping, and exploring — and has a particular interest in wildlife, with a soft spot for reptiles and spiders. Dominick is always looking for opportunities to expand his knowledge, refine his skills, and learn new techniques, and he takes pride in being hands-on, adaptable, and willing to figure things out, whether on a job, a vehicle, or a project of his own.

Interior design team in Tucson: Anselmo Vinhas, Architectural Designer

Anselmo Vinhas

Architectural Designer

Originally from Angola, Anselmo moved to Tucson to study architecture at the University of Arizona, where he earned his Bachelor of Architecture. Over time, Tucson became more than just a place to study, and he developed a real appreciation for the desert landscape, climate, and character of the Southwest. Anselmo enjoys residential design, architectural visualization, and the process of developing ideas into thoughtful, functional spaces. His experience includes international work on residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. He also has a strong interest in technology and enjoys exploring new design tools, visualization methods, and emerging technologies that can improve the design process. Outside of design, he enjoys exploring new places, learning new skills, and spending time outdoors.

Local Experience

Rooted in Southern Arizona.

Between them, the team brings decades of experience in design, construction, cabinetry, and remodeling — much of it here in Southern Arizona. Jeff first moved to Arizona in 1972, Amy has designed kitchens and baths in Tucson since 2007, and Helen has worked in residential design and construction across the Southwest for twenty years. That local knowledge shapes how the team plans for desert light, older block and slab construction, and the way Tucson families use their homes. The team serves central Tucson, Oro Valley, Catalina Foothills, Dove Mountain, and Marana from its East River Road studio.
